I am always happy to explore collaborations as an independent adviser and consultant to nonprofit organisations and grassroots groups. My areas of expertise include:
Climate strategy
I love to help initiatives think about their work through a climate justice lens. We explore together how their existing work already intersects with sustainability, environmental, and climate concerns. We then articulate what the most pressing and urgent areas are for the initiative to expand their work around, in line with existing capacities and interests.
Monitoring and evaluation for non-profit capacity building efforts & technology programmes
I specialise in responsible evaluation practices, accounting for epistemic justice, data protection protocols, and establishing meaningful impact metrics beyond just the numbers. In the past I’ve worked on 1) mid-term process evaluations evaluating the effectiveness of organisational processes, capturing emerging priorities, and providing actionable recommendations to organisations and funders; as well as 2) end-of-project evaluations: taking stock of the challenges and accomplishments arising throughout the project lifecycle.
Research Ethics
I can help your research initiative map out the research data lifecycle, thinking through what data will be collected at different stages of the lifecycle and how, from the literature review phase up through to dissemination. I am experienced in conducting iterative risk assessments to anticipate and mitigate against likely data loss, exfiltration, and misuse, with attention to data protection strategies such as data anonymization, safe data storage strategies, and just and responsible information sharing protocols.
Data governance
I’ve helped several initiatives think through their stewardship of user data, thinking through who controls the creation and dissemination of data. Data use policies and codes of conduct are an important area to consider and develop in order to meet the expectations and risks of users.
